I took private lessons with Maria for 2 hours per day. She is well-organized and gave me many opportunities to practice as I learned from her. I am not very vocal by nature, but she worked with me to improve my grammar and pronunciation. She used a combination of academic text, stories, video, and conversations to improve every aspect of my Spanish: reading, writing, speaking, and understanding spoken Spanish.
The location was awesome, one block from a park, a very nice restaurant (Mini Mal) and an excellent cafe (Mistral en Casa). I arranged my own housing and took public transportation to class (Chapinero Alto) and back to where I was staying (Teusaquillo) for a great immersion experience.
The worst thing I can say about the experience was it was not easy for me to find the address at first, but that's due to my initial unfamiliarity with the location and the prominence of a large building with a very similar looking address about a block away.
All in all, the entire 2 weeks I spent there were outstanding, and it will likely not be my last stay and participation in classes at the Spanish World Institute.

Students have the opportunity to live with Colombian host families, allowing them to practice their Spanish in a real-life context while experiencing Colombian culture. During their stay, students will share daily life with a Spanish-speaking family. Breakfast is included, and there is a washing machine available, or clothes can be washed once a week.

Host families are carefully selected, and throughout the stay, students will become an integral part of the family.
