The perfect balance of general language development and exam preparation to ensure maximum success in IELTS:-

COURSE CONTENT
Part A – 10 lessons progressive language development & practice based mainly on coursebooks to give structure and direction to the process of language learning
Part B – 10 lessons ‘active communication skills’ - lessons which focus on the individual skills of communication – listening, speaking, reading and writing – to ensure rapid progress in the ability to understand and use English accurately in real situations.
(Part C – (first period of course only relevant for courses of more than 6 weeks) until final 6 weeks before examination) - 5 lessons per week intensive grammar to give additional support and guidance to achieve greater accuracy in English.
Part D – (final period of course – the final 6 weeks up to the examination date) - 5 lessons per week intensive examination practice & guidance to fully prepare for IELTS.
Part E - 5 lessons per week teacher-guided self-access study, computer-assisted learning, IELTS practice & guidance, plus listening and pronunciation practice under the guidance of a senior teacher.

CLASS SIZE
During the academic year, the maximum class size is 6 students for all taught parts of the course.

ASSESSMENT
This course leads to the examination chosen by the individual student, though it is NOT compulsory to take the examination at the end of the course; all participants will also be given a certificate issued by Severnvale Academy which gives a clear statement of English level - both functionally (communication level) and structurally (grammar level). These levels are assessed through continuous assessment and/or formal testing.
